The artist, who has over 1.5 BILLION video views, 5 Million fans, and an honorary STAR on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, announced today that she filed the lawsuit in the Middle District of Tennessee asking to receive credit for her work on several of Ryan Upchurch’s hit songs.

As you may have seen in our previous article, Nicole referenced several social media posts showing her involvement during the writing sessions and even included a video where Upchurch is heard saying, “…Nicole just made this, check it,” with her in the background as he played one of the tracks listed in the copyright suit.

While it is up to the justice system to determine the outcome of the lawsuit, one hopes that the heart of Music City prevails, that credit is given where it’s due, and that creativity continues to flourish within the bounds of what is fair.
