The feud between Nicki Minaj and Latto escalated this week as the talented female rappers took to Twitter to voice their frustration as Grammy voting kicked off.
The rift began when Minaj said she felt the Recording Academy was showing a bias towards Latto in regards to the way their work was being categorized. The Superbass rapper called Latto “an entitled Karen” on Twitter which sparked a heated internet exchange between the two. Latto responded by calling Minaj “a 40 year old bully” and described her as “my idol-turned-rival.”
Minaj has since deleted the tweets on the subject however Latto has left her Tweets up. “Super freaky grandma is married AND related to f**king rapists. You ain’t gone bully me B***H! My idol turned rival now u hating!” Latto responded at one point.
On Thursday, after the Hollywood Reporter shared that Minaj’s Super Freaky Girl had been shifted from the rap category by the Grammy committee to the pop category. Minaj posted a 17-minute video on Instagram explaining how she felt about the move.
“If ‘Super Freaky Girl’ is pop, then so is ‘Big Energy’,” she avowed in her Instagram video message. “If you move ‘Super Freaky Girl’ out of rap and put it in pop, do the same with ‘Big Energy.’ Right? Same producers on both songs, by the way, if you want to talk about it. So let’s keep shit fair.”
One thing is certain, both artists are monumentally talented and while my work problems aren’t so big, I can understand their frustration.
