The Doctor Is In: Interview With Doctor Yizzle

Must Read

Born and raised to Korean Immigrant parents in Korea Town of Los Angeles, California, Doctor Yizzle learned to make music in the living room of his one-bedroom apartment.

He quickly fell in love with music when he was introduced to Eminem by secretly taking his brother’s iPod and came across his song “Rock Bottom”. From that moment on, he passionately learned about the history of Hip Hop. At the same time, he kept taking his brother’s iPod and came across Rock music and R&B in which he devoutly dived into. Through all of that, he wanted to make music therefore, he taught himself how to make beats and engineer himself. He wanted to hone his craft and become the best rapper alive, so he meticulously studied wordplay and kept practicing.

Now, he has accumulated over a million streams throughout the internet and was featured on Rolling Stone India, EnVi Media, VoyageLA, Etc. He continues to grow and plans to become the best version that he could possibly be. Cross-pollinating genres such as Hip-hop, Alternative Rock, Lo-fi, and so many more, Yizzle pursues breaking genres and shattering the borders of music. Brimming with endless self-belief, creative endeavors, and self-less energy, Doctor Yizzle is only waiting for his spot to be on top of the world.

We recently sat down with the Doctor to ask him a couple questions:

Bridge: Tell our readers who you are and what you’re about…

DY: My name is Doctor Yizzle and I am from Koreatown in Los Angeles, California. I am a Korean American music artist, writer, producer, and engineer. I represent energy. I believe that my music captivates the true essence of my energy and I want that to be sent out to my listeners. I want to change the world with my music and that is through infectious positive energy. The influence I am going to put out into the world will only be bright and shine through the barrier of darkness.

Bridge: How would you describe your music to a first time listener?

DY: Honest. If there was one word to describe my music it would be “honest”. If you go through my discography, you will hear my genuine energy. This is why my songs are everywhere across a plethora of genres because I am a human who experiences every emotion. Everytime I am creating a song, you will feel and hear what I am experiencing at that exact moment.

Bridge: What do you hope listeners get out of your art?

DY: For them to take anything out of it whether it be my lyrics or a piece of my energy and transfuse it into a positive experience. I want people to feel less alone and know that you are exactly where you are supposed to be. I especially would love to heal people’s souls and compel people to self analyze to be able to remove any toxic aspects in their lives.

Bridge: All-time favorite song:

DY: This is such a hard question but I would say Feel Good Inc. by Gorillaz if I could think of something right now.

Bridge: If you could collab  with any artist, who would it be?

DY: I have a long list of people I would love to collaborate with but if I could pick one artist, it would be Sabrina Claudio. Also would love to work with The Neighbourhood, Brent Faiyaz, Fivio Foreign, The Kid Laroi, and Bibi.

Bridge: What projects are you working on right now?

DY: My main focus right now is to make as many singles as possible and release them. However… there is a very under-the-radar project in the making.

Bridge: Anything your fans need to know? Upcoming shows, releases, etc?

DY: If you are reading this, I want you to know that you could do anything in this lifetime. Believe in yourself. Your energy is contagious. Your mind is the most powerful weapon of yours and just keep going. As for upcoming shows, I will be in your city soon. I am currently focusing on my artistry and making sure I deliver the highest quality of content possible to you.
