Bridge: Thanks for chatting with us! Go ahead and tell our readers about how you got started…
KF: In the mid tens I moved into a van to tour around the country full time, visited every major city in America and fell in love with Nashville. I am coming up on 6 years here and nearly 10 doing music full time. It’s a blessing and the industry is always changing!
Bridge: Are there any rituals you have developed over the years that are helpful to your music-making process?
KF: I think giving yourself time to be creative, time to be quiet in a room with a guitar or a notebook somewhere pretty, time to jam without expectations. Those moments are when the best songs can arise.
Bridge: What are you doing to push a positive narrative as an artist and with your music?
KF: I think one of my gifts is taking intense emotion, even pain, and transferring that into songs. Keep being honest and it can help everyone through this moment or that.
Bridge: Could you talk about a DOWN you had in your career?
KF: I think burnout and getting tired has been tough. The pandemic in a way was helpful for me to take a break and think about building a more sustainable and balanced schedule.
Bridge: How do you think your experience has helped you shape your career and approach your music?
KF: I love feeling like I’m exactly where I want to be. Right place, right time. I hope if I approach writing, recording, releasing music from this inspired place, it’s all gravy.
Bridge: Could you talk about an UP you had in your career?
KF: There are so many ups. From the places I have been able to travel to the people I have met, the joy of creating something beautiful, music is the best.
Bridge: How did you grow your community of fans?
KF: One day at a time! Some in-person, some on the internet, it’s amazing to me all the ways we are connected.
Bridge: Talk to us about your upcoming music? What is the drive for releasing it?
KF: I just dropped my new album “War in the Living Room” . I got to work with producers June Millington (Fanny) and Brett Bullion (Now, now, Lizzo) to turn some crazy big emotions into an album.
