Hollywood legends Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito stole the spotlight at the 2024 Academy Awards with a humorous reunion that had the audience in stitches. The “Twins” duo took to the stage to present the awards for Best Visual Effects to “Godzilla Minus One” and Best Film Editing to “Oppenheimer.” However, it was their witty exchange about their past roles as Batman adversaries that truly captured the crowd’s attention.

DeVito kicked off the banter, stating, “Arnold and I are presenting tonight together for a very obvious reason.” Schwarzenegger then playfully revealed, “We’ve both tried to kill Batman!” This remark was met with enthusiastic applause, as the audience recalled DeVito’s portrayal of the Penguin in Tim Burton’s “Batman Returns” and Schwarzenegger’s role as Mr. Freeze in “Batman and Robin.”

The duo continued to entertain with anecdotes from their villainous pasts. Schwarzenegger joked about Mr. Freeze’s defeat at the hands of Batman, saying, “He used my one weakness against me,” referring to the character’s love for his deceased wife. DeVito chimed in with a humorous account of the Penguin’s demise, “Oh. He threw me out a window!”

The laughter intensified when the camera panned to Michael Keaton, who had portrayed Batman in “Batman Returns,” sitting in the audience. Schwarzenegger quipped, “You have a lot of nerve to show your face around here,” while DeVito playfully threatened, “We’ll see you after the Governor’s Ball, pal!”

The reunion was not only a trip down memory lane but also a reminder of Keaton’s recent return as Batman in a supporting role in “The Flash.” Director Andy Muschietti shared a touching moment from the set, revealing Keaton’s awe upon seeing the Batcave and his request for a picture in the full suit for his grandson.

The Oscars audience was treated to a delightful blend of nostalgia and humor as Schwarzenegger and DeVito reminisced about their iconic roles and teased one of their most famous co-stars. Their “Twins” reunion was a highlight of the night, proving that these seasoned actors still know how to captivate an audience with their charisma and wit.
