Mariah Carey held her first live concert since the pandemic last week. During the performance, the Queen of Christmas brought out her daughter Monroe and further surprised fans by doing a duet with her. The pair sang “Away in a Manger” as the crowd was amazed to find out that the apple definitely doesn’t fall far from the tree.

“This is our first duet,” Carey told the sold-out crowd, “Alright, this is a beautiful, beautiful hymn called ‘Away in a Manger.’ We’ve been working on this one for a minute,” she said.

The pair blew the hymn out of the water, showcasing vocal skills that most artists could only dream up. At the end of the song, she proudly said “My daughter, Miss Monroe.”

The family-friendly Merry Christmas to All! Concert was Mimi’s first of four, two in Toronto and two in New York City at Madison Square Garden, Dec. 13 and 16. On Saturday (Dec. 10), her stage has been dismantled for the night’s Maple Leafs vs. Flames game and will go back up again for Sunday night.
