John Krasinski hasn’t ruled out the possibility of reprising his role as Jim Halpert from “The Office” in the newly announced spin-off. Speaking at the premiere of his latest film, “IF,” which he both wrote and directed, Krasinski revealed that while he hasn’t been approached for a cameo in the new Peacock series, he’s open to the idea, especially for Greg Daniels, the executive producer of both the original and new show.
“As of now, I haven’t been asked,” Krasinski noted. “But the truth is I’d do anything for Greg Daniels, and it sounds like they have a really fun idea.”
The upcoming series will focus on the volunteer staff of a struggling newspaper in the Midwest and the publisher’s efforts to revive the business. Confirmed cast members include Domhnall Gleeson and Sabrina Impacciatore, known for her role in season 2 of “The White Lotus.”

Krasinski, one of the most notable stars to emerge from the U.S. version of “The Office,” mentioned his confidence in Gleeson, whom he is currently working with on a Guy Ritchie film. “He’s so good and he’s so sweet — he’s going to crush it in the show,” Krasinski said.
Steve Carell, Krasinski’s friend and “IF” co-star, also shared his excitement for Gleeson’s role but confirmed he has no plans to appear in the new series. “I’m excited to watch Domhnall Gleeson take on the gig, but I don’t anticipate Dunder Mifflin’s former manager appearing at a newspaper business anytime soon,” Carell said.
The new series is set to begin production in July 2024, with details about the premiere date yet to be announced. “IF” premieres in theaters on May 17.
