Jeff Bezos Gives Dolly Parton $100 Million For Philanthropy

Must Read

You read that right. Dolly Parton received a $100 Million donation from Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and his partner Lauren Sanchez to put towards her philanthropic efforts as part of the Bezos Courage and Civility Award.

Parton received the award during a star-studded ceremony on November 11. The award “recognizes leaders who aim high, find solutions, and who always do it with civility. Each awardee receives $100 Million to direct to the charities that they see fit.”

Lauren Sanchez posted a video clip on Instagram of Dolly receiving the award on stage.

“Jeff and I are so proud to share that we have a new Bezos Courage and Civility Award winner,” Sanchez said in the caption, “a woman who gives with her heart and leads with love and compassion in every aspect of her work. We can’t wait to see all the good that you’re going to do with this $100 million award, Dolly Parton.”

Prior to this event, Parton received the 2022 Carnegie Medal of Philanthropy, an award that recognizes extraordinary efforts in strengthening early childhood education through the distribution of free books worldwide with her Imagination Library Project.

Parton is the third receipt of the Bezos Courage and Civility Award. Chef and Activist José Andrés and CNN Contributor Van Jones won the award last year.

“I will try to put my money where my heart is. I will do my best to do good things with this money. Thank you,” Parton said via Twitter.

We can’t think of a more trustworthy person.
