Critically acclaimed singer/songwriter, Skip Ewing released his new song “Road Dog” today, Friday, September 8, 2023. The track, which will be featured on his forthcoming album Road To California early next year, was inspired by Ewing’s beloved dog Shotgun, named for the seat he likes to occupy. “Listen to “Road Dog” HERE.
“Road Dog” perfectly encapsulates the happiness of a dog driving along a vast open road with their owner. “If you’re a dog lover, and most especially if a dog is one of your family members, you’ll certainly relate,” Ewing shared with All Country News. “Roll the windows down and crank it up!”
The upbeat tune captures the moment shared between the dog and their owner from the unique way in which the dog is actually singing. Described as “straight up fun and a total Nashville pick-fest” by Ewing, “Road Dog” highlights the simplicity of joy rides. A music video is set to be released later this month featuring photos of not only Skip’s dog but also photos submitted by fans from across the globe.
Earlier this summer, Skip released the first single from his forthcoming album, “Knots,” which shines a light on themes of PTSD, suicide prevention and the respect-worthy aspiration to remain faithful to oneself. The song was featured on CMT’s weekly music roundup and is currently climbing the charts at Texas Country radio. In July, the demo for “I Would If I Could” (co-written with Dean Dillon), was featured in Apple Music’s Lost & Found, which spotlights Nashville songwriters by showcasing some of the best country tracks that have never been released. Skip will be performing these songs, as well as “Road Dog,” in Davenport, Iowa at the Galvin Fine Arts Center on September 9. Tickets are available for purchase here.
With additional exciting announcements to come in 2023 as well as more new music on the horizon, Skip continues to cement himself as one of the most talented singer/songwriters of our generation. Armed with his introspective lyrics and smooth crooning vocals, Skip’s music continues to reach new heights and resonate with audiences far and wide.
