Seven years into her journey in the vibrant and competitive music scene of Nashville, rising country artist Caroline Kid has already made a remarkable impact. Originally from the charming town of Waukee, Iowa, Kid embarked on her musical adventure with the release of her self-penned and self-titled debut EP in 2022. Since then, she has been dubbed as one of “Nashville’s Rising Stars” by Authority Magazine and has received praise from major country music platforms like ACM, TheBoot, and CMT.com.
Caroline Kid’s journey to Nashville was marked by a hunger for adventure, which led her to explore the breathtaking landscapes of the Pacific Northwest during her early twenties. The experiences she gained during this time were highly influential in shaping the emotional depth and authenticity of her debut EP. Describing her move to Nashville, Kid shared, “I had a song in my heart and nowhere to put it, so I bought a guitar and changed my address to Nashville. This town gave me somewhere to put my songs.”
The debut EP was a resounding success, with all the songs being written by Kid herself and offering a deeply personal reflection of her life and experiences. However, she is not content to rest on her laurels, and now she is ready to build on her sound with the magic of collaboration. The next phase of her musical journey is all about exploring the possibilities of working with talented songwriters in Nashville.
As part of this exciting new chapter, Caroline Kid is premiering her latest single, “Whiskey Lies” exclusively at BRIDGE.
The song earned its place as a qualifying round winner in the esteemed Tennessee Songwriter’s Week in 2022. Dropping Friday, August 4, “Whiskey Lies” has already created a buzz within the industry and among fans, who eagerly anticipated the fresh perspective it offers on love, loss, and the deceptive tendencies of human emotions.
Speaking about the inspiration behind “Whiskey Lies,” Kid shared, “I had written down the title idea, and I still remember scribbling it down in a notebook over a lunch break. Country music does a lot to celebrate whiskey, but I wanted to write a song about the other side that is all-too-familiar yet lives in the shadows. I wanted to write something raw and powerful.”
The song, co-written by Caroline Kid, Brian Alexander, and Tom Lohrmann, delves into the intoxicating allure of whiskey and its ability to lead people down dark and regrettable paths. Kid explained, “Whiskey can make a person do things they might not otherwise, and not always for the best. This is the kind of song you listen to when someone has done you wrong, and you need to sing in your car at the top of your lungs to get over them — at least that’s how I do it.”
The release of “Whiskey Lies” is a testament to Caroline Kid’s artistic evolution and her ability to craft heartfelt, soul-stirring songs that resonate deeply with listeners. As she continues to break new ground in the country music scene, fans and critics alike are eagerly awaiting what’s next for this talented and promising artist.
