Emma Stone is having second thoughts about her Golden Globes joke.

The acclaimed Oscar-winning actress recently admitted that, although there’s no animosity between her and her long-time buddy Taylor Swift, she won’t be making any more wisecracks about the pop sensation.

In a fresh conversation alongside “Poor Things” director Yorgos Lanthimos, the 35-year-old shared that she faced a backlash from Swift’s fans after a backstage joke at the Golden Globes in January, where she referred to the “Cruel Summer” singer as an “a–hole.”

“I definitely won’t make a joke like that again,” Stone remarked, noting that her comments were taken out of context in the media.

The pair grabbed the spotlight when their friendship was showcased on Jan. 7, as the “La La Land” star nabbed the Best Actress award for her role in “Poor Things.” Swift and her friend Keleigh Sperry gave Stone a standing ovation as her name was announced.

Backstage, when asked about Swift’s support, Stone quipped, “What an a–hole, am I right?” She quickly added, “I’ve known her for almost 20 years, so I’m very happy she was there. She was also nominated tonight, so I’m very happy she was there — but what an a–hole.”

Stone and Swift’s friendship dates back to 2008 when they first met at the Young Hollywood Awards. Despite being discreet about their bond, the duo has been spotted hanging out on several occasions, including at the NYC premiere of Stone’s “Poor Things” in December.

In a June interview with Vanity Fair, Stone revealed that Swift helped her secure tickets to her sold-out Eras Tour. “I was lucky ’cause we’ve been friends for a really long time,” Stone said. “I’ve known her since we were 17 and 18, so she hooked me up, which was very nice ’cause I know those tickets are impossible to get.”

Stone praised Swift as a “wonderful friend” who never ceases to amaze her.
