Fans of the classic comedy “Happy Gilmore” have reason to celebrate as rumors swirl about a possible sequel in the works.
During a recent episode of “The Drew Barrymore Show,” host Drew Barrymore shared exciting news about the potential project. Barrymore revealed that her co-star and the original film’s co-writer, Adam Sandler, is reportedly working on a screenplay for “Happy Gilmore 2.”
In a clip from the show, Barrymore expressed her enthusiasm for the sequel, saying, “I want it. I need it. And I stayed up last night with my daughter watching ‘Billy Madison.’” Barrymore also shared that she had reached out to Sandler about the sequel, sending him a video of her watching one of his films.
Barrymore’s excitement was sparked by comments made by actor Christopher McDonald, who played Shooter McGavin in the original film. McDonald revealed in a radio interview that Sandler had shown him a copy of the first draft of the sequel. “I saw Adam about two weeks ago, and he says to me, ‘McDonald, you’re gonna love this,'” McDonald said. “He shows me the first draft of ‘Happy Gilmore 2.’ So it’s in the works. Fans demand it, damn it!”
