In a significant legal development, former “That ’70s Show” star Danny Masterson, 47, received a sentence of 30 years to life in prison for the rape of two women.
The verdict came from Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Charlaine F. Olmedo. The sentence followed heartfelt statements from two women who endured traumatic experiences and suffered from the haunting memories of their past.
Masterson, who had been in custody since May, appeared in court dressed in a suit. During the emotional proceedings, he observed the women as they spoke but displayed no visible reaction. One of the survivors, a victim of rape by Masterson in 2003, bravely expressed, “When you raped me, you stole from me. That’s what rape is, a theft of the spirit.”

With unwavering strength, she continued, “You are pathetic, disturbed, and completely violent. The world is better off with you in prison.” The other survivor, who also fell victim to Danny Masterson’s actions, stated, “He has not shown an ounce of remorse for the pain he caused.” She further lamented, “I knew he belonged behind bars for the safety of all the women he came into contact with. I am so sorry, and I’m so upset. I wish I’d reported him sooner to the police.”
This outcome follows a challenging legal process that included an initial jury failing to reach verdicts on three counts of rape in December, resulting in a mistrial. Subsequently, prosecutors retried Danny Masterson on all three counts earlier this year.
