Knoxville-based indie outfit Connor Kelly & The Time Warp have always thrived at the intersection of dreamy psychedelia and razor-sharp songwriting. Their latest album, This Egg, released on March 14, 2025, doesn’t just lean into that identity—it magnifies it. More expansive yet deeply personal, the record captures the band at their most unfiltered, grappling with themes of entitlement, self-awareness, and the inevitable reckoning that comes with unchecked or unchallenged privilege.
At the heart of the album sits its striking title track, “This Egg,” a darkly evocative contemplation on how a life of unrestrained indulgence can morph into confinement. The song’s central refrain—“This Egg will become a cage and then become the ground”—paints a stark picture of consequence, reinforced by ethereal textures and weighty lyricism.
“This Egg is about trying hard not to resent someone you love whose reality is distorted from always getting what they want,” explains frontman Connor Kelly. “It’s a melancholy track with brutal lyrics, exploring themes we’ve never confronted this directly before.”
A DIY Approach with a Legendary Touch
Unlike their previous releases, This Egg was largely crafted in-house, with the band recording in Knoxville, Tennessee. The hands-on process gave them complete control, allowing them to shape every sonic detail, filtering their message through a masterfully personal creative process. Engineering contributions from Aiden Lamb and Connor Kelly added to the intimate nature of the record, while the band’s meticulous approach ensured an intricate, textured sound.
To refine the album’s final form, they brought in Paul Q. Kolderie, the legendary producer behind Radiohead, Pixies, and Dinosaur Jr. His expertise added polish while maintaining the raw, immersive quality of the band’s vision.
“This is the most honest and introspective record we’ve ever made,” says Kelly. “Recording everything ourselves at home gave us the space to be more intentional, and I think that’s what makes this album feel so authentic.”

Bringing This Egg to the Stage
Connor Kelly & The Time Warp have earned a reputation for their electric live performances, having shared the stage with acts like The Backseat Lovers, Moon Taxi, and Vista Kicks. Now, they’re hitting the road to bring This Egg to life in front of audiences across the country.
Their 2025 U.S. tour includes stops at The Echo in Los Angeles (March 18) and The Constellation Room in Santa Ana (March 19), along with a performance at Treefort Music Festival in Boise. Known for blending high-energy rock with atmospheric introspection, their setlist is expected to showcase the full range of emotions packed into the album.
This Egg is available now on Spotify, Apple Music, and all major streaming platforms. As the band continues to push the boundaries of indie rock, this latest release cements their reputation—not just as musicians, but as storytellers unafraid to confront the complexities of the world around them.
