Written while daydreaming of a trip to Mexico, Marie took her inspiration to the writing room for a Kenny Chesney-esque beach anthem, filled with soft guitar riffs and strong vocals. Co-written and produced by GRAMMY-nominated songwriter, Keith Hetrick along with Suzanne Harper, “Somewhere in Mexico” perfectly encapsulates the beachy daydreams that you can’t get out of your head after a vacation, longing for another moment of serenity amid the chaos of life at home. “I wanted to bring all the elements that I felt [on vacation] into the music between the mariachi bands, ocean waves, sunset, and beach so that listeners could feel like they have been transported to the beach. I really think the song lyrically brings the listeners on that dreamy romantic weekend with me,” Marie Wise-Hawkins explains.
The California native, is making her mark in the genre with her breezy, coastal sound, transporting listeners to a tropical paradise and evoking the essence of the beach lifestyle with soft acoustics and steel guitars.
