TikTok star Danae Hays has just added another notch to her comedic belt: country singer.
The actress and funnywoman released her first “comedy country” single, ‘Rode Hard’, and the response was immediate.
Currently sitting in the Top 10 on the iTunes Country Music charts, Danae continues to prove herself as a multifaceted talent in the entertainment industry, raising the bar for the genre and moving it away from the gimmicky realm in which it has largely existed. The lyrics and subject matter are hilarious, and the song is just dang good.
While most comedic takes on music come across as uncomfortable and cringeworthy, ‘Rode Hard’ rivals the quality of any other popular song you would hear on country radio today. It’s catchy, well-produced, and it turns out that Hays can actually sing.
‘Rode Hard’ is only the beginning, as Danae and her wife Mandie Kaii, who is not only a co-writer on the track but also a creative force to be reckoned with herself, have both announced online that a full comedy album is in the works.
If this song is any indication of what’s to come, musical comedy is about to get a facelift courtesy of the Hays’.
