Dwayne Kirkland Jr. AKA D Kirk KV has his sights set on the top.
After a strong debut in 2020 with his album, “Oceans,” the hip hop/R&B artist just released another track, “Essence Remix”
At 27 years of age, D Kirk KV developed his love of music from his father. D Kirk KV’s sound comes from his heart and his love of music. Though he originally hails from the east coast in Philadelphia, he is dripping in that distinct west coast style and swagger.
Kirk’s family and friends are of Caribbean and Jamaican descent, which serves as inspiration behind the feeling and sound of his music. His song “Put It Down” feat. Sunnie, is a powerful rap record about love and that “good feeling” when you first meet someone. It is in this track you can glean his tropical heritage.

Both love and dance are points of focus for the artist, which he credits from listening to artists like Shaggy and Sean Paul. “Music was my light out of the bad times. I feel honored to be growing as an artist,” he says.
He also credits his family for helping to kickstart his passion for music by bring artists like Chris Brown, Kid Ink, Big Sean, and J Cole into his world. “These artists shape my sound and love of music,” he says “As a college graduate with a business degree, I used my college experience to allow myself to use music as an outlet.” His debut album, “Oceans” is a pure expression of those vibes.
